The large plateau indicated in maps with the toponym “la Montagnola” (196 meters above sea level) is commonly known as “the roof of the world” for its splendid panoramic view. In May, the whole area is an explosion of bright yellow flowers, thanks to the broom bushes covering the fields. The walking path from Ripe di Casteldimezzo and Vallugola runs across this stunning scenery.
The remains of human activities are scattered around the area, as in the past farmers used to grow crops on the slope of the promontory facing the sea.
This is a magical place but it is also a very delicate environment, as it is very close to the edge of the crag.
It thus requires visitors to pay maximum attention and be very respectful of the surroundings.
